Project Management is a set of skills and processes that are applied or practiced (much like a doctor practices) for the accomplishment of a unique, and somewhat complex, endeavor that has specific goals. A project has a start and an end date. Proficiency at the implementation of medium to large projects requires significant effort to develop good communications, planning, management and persuasion skills. However, not all of us want to be full fledged project managers. Action planning is a simplified or short form of project management. In fact action planning might be considered project management for small projects.
Don't let the term "small project" fool you. Significant and valuable projects can be undertaken and accomplished by small projects. In fact it is recommended that many larger projects be undertaken in phases which can be considered many small projects.
